Deputy-Director Shoji Ikeda explained an overview of the total technology value chain for low-power semiconductors R&D, while visiting the clean room and characterization & evaluation facilities for 300mm wafers.
Following that, Director Tetsuo Endoh explained our industry-academia collaboration consortium activities including R&D and regional collaboration projects, contributions to the promotion of University for International Research Excellence for which Tohoku University was designated, and exchanged opinions on advantages and development prospects of spintronics low-power semiconductors, their applications in the field of AI, activities in the field of power electronics, the distinctive intellectual property management, the contributions to Japan’s semiconductor strategy and green innovation strategy, activities at the Innovative Spintronics X Semiconductor Research Hub, while showing our recent research results including the MEXT Initiative to Establish Next-generation Novel Integrated Circuits Center (X-NICS).
